Senior Director, Aviation Maintenance

Job Description POSITION SUMMARY

The Sr. Director of Aviation Maintenance will be responsible for all aspects of designing and implementing a comprehensive maintenance infrastructure of internal resources and external third-party vendors to ensure 100% coverage and availability of TMDX aviation fleet for transplant missions.

This pivotal role entails setting the vision and directing all aspects of technical services pertaining to CFR Part 135 and CFR Part 145 operations. This executive position demands a strategic and visionary leadership approach to ensure operational excellence, regulatory adherence, and maximize all technical operations to ensure aircraft availability.

We will consider this role as hybrid however must be local to Dallas.

Responsibilities

Establish a TMDX aviation service hubs for TMDX aviation fleet.

Build efficiency and streamline the maintenance process for TMDX aviation fleet.

Develop and manage the execution of spare parts program for TMDX aviation fleet to minimize downtime for planes.

Develop and manage maintenance schedule plan to minimize downtime for TMDX aviation fleet.

Manage all internal maintenance resources and personnel as well as external maintenance vendors.

Lead the implementation of digitizing the TMDX aviation fleet’s maintenance records in My Air Ops system.

Chart the course for and spearhead the technical operations strategy, aligning with the company's long-term objectives and regulatory requirements.

Command the evaluation and refinement of operational metrics and KPIs to deliver superior performance, safety, and reliability at an organizational scale.

Architect and enact sophisticated strategies to amplify fleet safety, reliability, and efficiency, ensuring a competitive edge in the market.

Orchestrate the financial management of technical operations, including advanced budget forecasting and meticulous oversight of profit and loss statements.

Act as the principal executive contact for escalated technical issues and regulatory matters, upholding the company's reputation and compliance.

Cultivate strategic partnerships and industry alliances to enhance operational capabilities and regulatory rapport.

Instill a collaborative ethos among technical and flight operations, fostering an environment that encourages innovation and operational synergy.

Monitor and support the CFR Part 135 technical operations.

Monitor and support the CFR Part 145 operations, to ensure the business unit is operating safely, efficiently, and within the budgetary parameters.

Develop and implement processes and strategies to increase the efficiency of the CFR

Perform other TransMedics tasks and duties as assigned/required.

Management Responsibilities

Director of Maintenance and their direct reports.

Physical Attributes

Prepared to undertake travel commitments of up to 50%, to fulfill responsibilities and strategic objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

Exceptional command of leadership, strategic communication, and negotiation skills.

Proven judgment in organizational design, time management, and the execution of strategic initiatives.

Adept at navigating complex problem-solving scenarios and analytical decision-making.

Comprehensive mastery of executive-level project management and operational optimization tools.

College degree in a related field, or a combination of education and high-level managerial experience in aviation operations.

A rich technical background underscored by a history of successful leadership in Part 135 and Part 145 operational environments.

Documented success in deploying organizational tools at an executive scale to streamline company processes and increase efficiency.

Significant expertise in the authorship and oversight of critical CFR Part 135 and Part 145 documentation.

Experience in technical writing CFR Part 135 manuals (GOM, GMM, AAIP, etc)

Experience in technical writing CFR Part 145 manuals (RSM, QCM)

TransMedics is committed to equitable and transparent compensation. The expected base salary range for this role is $214,300 - $267,300, which represents the company’s current good‑faith estimate of compensation for this position. Actual salary will depend on factors such as, but not limited to, candidate experience, qualifications, skills, and the specific work location. This role may also be eligible for bonuses, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, retirement savings, paid time off, and wellness resources).
