Position Summary The Director of Data Governance & Global Privacy will be responsible for building and leading the global data governance and privacy program. This role will ensure that our data is well-managed, secure, and compliant with privacy laws in all regions where we operate, including the United States, Europe (GDPR), Singapore (PDPA), and the UAE (PDPL). This hire will start as an individual contributor, reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), and will guide the buildout of the team as the program grows. This is a highly visible role that will work closely with Legal, Security, and business leaders to establish a strong foundation for data management and compliance.

Day‑to‑day responsibilities would include a combination of the following:

Build and manage an enterprise data warehouse for core enterprise data.

Partner with business leaders to leverage data and drive business results.

Establish and oversee a data governance risk framework, including ongoing risk reviews and mitigation with Security and Enterprise Risk teams.

Lead privacy incident response efforts and serve as a key member of the data breach response team, ensuring timely resolution and regulatory compliance.

Embed security controls across data governance, including access management, encryption, monitoring, and auditability.

Lead Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and champion privacy by design across technology, and operations.

Manage Data Subject Requests (DSRs) to ensure timely, compliant responses.

Deliver mandatory privacy and security training, with role-based content and compliance tracking.

Coordinate internal and external audits and maintain regulatory documentation.

Monitor global privacy regulations and update policies to ensure ongoing compliance.

Report regularly to executive leadership on data governance, privacy compliance, risk, and incidents.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Law (with focus on privacy/data protection)

At least 10 years of experience in data management, governance, or related fields.

Strong understanding of global privacy regulations (ie: GDPR, US state laws, PDPA, and/or PDPL)

Experience building programs from the ground up and building consensus with senior stakeholders.

Familiarity with Microsoft’s data tools (Fabric and Purview) or similar platforms.

Excellent communication skills and ability to work across technical and business teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree (preferred) in: Data Governance, Information Security, or a related discipline OR MBA with a technology, risk, or compliance concentration

Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP)

Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)

Demonstrated experience with global privacy frameworks and operationalizing compliance

Leadership in cross‑functional, international environments.

Hands‑on experience with enterprise data platforms and privacy technologies.

Compensation Compensation for the role includes a competitive salary in the range from $200,000 -$300,000 (inclusive of a merit‑based bonus, dependent on years of experience, level of education obtained, as well as applicable skillset) and an excellent benefits package, including a comprehensive employer‑paid medical plan and generous employer match for 401k.
