Advisor for Portfolio Strategy and Solutions . Reporting to the Director of Portfolio Strategy and Solutions, the Advisor is responsible for catalyzing the production of the Development team through a solutions‑focused advisory approach that is collaborative, professionalized, and strategic.

The purpose of this position is to serve as the Prospect Development team's primary point of contact for assigned Development unit leaders. The Advisor seeks to understand the unique needs of each Development unit leader, ensuring their efforts are focused on enhancing the strategic capacity of unit leaders—especially as it relates to planning and coaching teams of Development Officers.

Responsibilities

Portfolio Strategy:

Collaborate with fellow Prospect Development team members to refine workflows and business processes that maintain and monitor the University of Tennessee system‑wide portfolio while segmenting it into institutional, institute, unit‑based, officer, and prospect panels—ensuring dynamic and optimized prospect assignment across the pipeline.

Portfolio Solutions:

Proactively serve as a professional advisor, laser‑focused on identifying and addressing barriers to Development Officer production.

Prospect Management:

Monitor the overall integrity of performance metrics for Development Officers and collaborate with prospect development colleagues and Central Services colleagues to ensure dashboards and reports are accurate, clear, and accessible.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree

1+ years of experience translating data and analysis into actionable strategy and solutions that drive business outcomes

Entrepreneurial mindset with strong strategic planning capabilities and business intelligence acumen

Experience working within a decentralized environment, leading complex projects in a collaborative service role

Broad understanding of diverse prospect bases spanning the full scope of UTFI’s enterprise (business, engineering, arts & sciences, agriculture, athletics, patients, and friends)

Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills

A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required due to travel responsibilities. Significant driving offenses within the past 12 months may disqualify a candidate.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Master’s degree

Philanthropic experience (fundraising, prospect development, portfolio development, analytic tools)

Experience utilizing CRMs; Salesforce preferred

Change management experience

Experience developing and leading trainings, or teaching/advising professional staff
