Regional Sales Manager (Shenandoah Region)

Job Overview The Companion Animal Regional Sales Manager combines leadership and hands‑on sales execution to achieve regional goals and promote Merck’s product portfolio. The role oversees approximately 10 Territorial and Senior Territory Representatives.
Essential Accountabilities
Prepare and implement a comprehensive regional business plan, ensuring consistent product program implementation and sales goal attainment.
Directly impact business unit performance through strong leadership and management skills.
Develop and manage talent for attraction, retention, and motivation of the regional sales team.
Manage, coach, and provide direction to the sales team; build cohesive teams and conduct performance reviews.
Communicate consistently and build effective cross‑functional relationships with region professional services veterinarians.
Originate ideas and suggest new development areas, extending beyond the regional level.
Collaborate with key distributor management personnel to promote the portfolio.
Scope & Context This position is a people‑management role focused on engaging stakeholders, talent development, and strategic planning.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of sales and/or account management experience in animal health.
Technical, product & market knowledge.
Market share mindset focusing on potential vs outcomes.
Territory & business management experience.
Leadership and strong team‑building skill.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent presentation and analytical skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Valid driver’s license.
Available for extensive overnight travel (50%).
Reside within the sales region.
Preferred Skills/Abilities
Two years leadership experience with demonstrated accomplishments.
Knowledge of animal health biological and pharmaceutical products.
Experience working with distribution.
Multilingual fluency preferred, especially in Spanish.
