Essential Job Responsibilities

Oversee change management within the HRIS system for managers, including pay changes, transfers, retirement, termination, etc.

Partner with HR Management to improve manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; implementing selected solutions; coaching and counseling.

Collaborate with leadership to champion and accelerate a culture of excellence, engaging and inspiring people to deliver top business results.

Partner with Regional and HR management on employee relations, including coaching & development, corrective action plans, union grievances, and terminations.

Responsible for processing and managing leaves of absence (FMLA, State Leave, WC, etc.).

Partner with leaders to develop and implement recruiting strategies, managing job postings, offer letters, compensation pricing, and onboarding.

Take an active role with senior leaders, regional managers, and HR management in developing people/talent programs—recruiting, retention, compensation, benefits, performance management, succession, goal setting, and training.

Partner with managers to identify key performers and potential for growth during succession planning at locations.

Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements to reduce risks and ensure compliance; partner with legal department as needed.

Maintain HR policies and procedures by updating and recommending best practices to senior HR staff.

Partner with HR leadership in conducting management/employee training on performance management, safety, harassment, and other policy guidelines.

Respond to inquiries promptly and educate employees on HR practices and procedures.

Implement new and existing HRIS platforms—create setup tables, review best practices, administer and maintain.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum of 8 years of Human Resources experience.

Minimum of 4 years of HR strategic leadership with labor relations and experience in both Union and Non-Union environments.

Industry experience in shipping/logistics/transportation preferred but not critical.

International or multi-regional experience a plus.

Preferred bilingual, fluent in English and Spanish.

Demonstrated knowledge of applicable laws: ADA, ADEA, EEO, affirmative action, FMLA, FLSA, OSHA, etc.

Strong ability to attract and retain talent and motivate high-performance teams.

Ability to bring credibility to the HR function through professional skills.

Project integrity while winning through consultative, embracing personality.

Superior interpersonal communication, presentation, and organizational skills.

Attention to detail and accuracy is a must.
