Director of Development

to help grow fundraising during a pivotal phase of growth. This organization is directly impacting poverty in Chicago by supporting individuals and families as they transition out of homelessness and into stable housing. The work is tangible and immediate — and fundraising is a critical lever to expand that impact. This is a hands-on role with real ownership over fundraising outcomes. The mandate is simple: drive results. The path can flex based on your strengths — major gifts, foundation/institutional funding, corporate partnerships, and/or campaigns. If you’re strongest in one lane, lean into it. If you’re more balanced, build across lanes. What matters is performance and follow-through. This role is ideal for either:

An experienced nonprofit development professional with a track record of personally securing meaningful philanthropic support,

or A successful relationship-driven sales professional with a genuine passion for mission-based work who wants to apply commercial rigor to fundraising What You’ll Own

Own fundraising strategy and execution across major gifts, individual donors, institutional giving, corporate partnerships, and campaigns Personally manage and close a portfolio of donor and partner relationships Build, refine, and execute a development plan with measurable outcomes Partner closely with the CEO and leadership team on fundraising priorities and growth initiatives Strengthen structure and accountability in the development function (tracking, reporting, pipeline discipline) Help shape messaging, donor narratives, and engagement strategies that resonate with supporters What We’re Looking For

For the right candidate, background can come from nonprofit development or a high-performing revenue role. What matters most is an outcomes orientation and proven relationship-driven performance. Nonprofit Development Profile

5+ years of fundraising experience with a verifiable track record of personally securing meaningful support (major gifts, institutional funding, corporate partnerships, and/or campaigns) Comfort being accountable to clear outcomes and deadlines Proven record of consultative, relationship-driven selling Consistently over quota in roles with $500K+ annual quota responsibility Motivation to apply commercial discipline to fundraising in a mission-driven environment Across both profiles

Comfort owning a number, a goal, and outcomes — not just activity Strong judgment, credibility, and presence with senior stakeholders Ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a lean environment High integrity, resilience, and motivation to build and improve systems over time Why This Role

Real ownership and autonomy over fundraising outcomes Close partnership with the CEO and leadership team Flexibility to lean into the fundraising lane where you can drive the most impact Opportunity to strengthen and grow fundraising impact meaningfully Competitive compensation including a performance-based bonus We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at all levels of the organization. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, genetic information, or any other protected characteristic under applicable law.
