Overview
This position will take place in our Norwalk, CT office. The Tax Intern supports the organization’s tax compliance function by assisting with key income, sales, and property tax activities. This role contributes to the preparation of tax provisions, tax returns, estimates, business licenses, and responses to tax notices, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulatory requirements. The position provides hands-on experience within a corporate tax environment and requires strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and proficient use of Microsoft Office tools. Ideal for a student pursuing an accounting or related degree, this role offers exposure to core tax processes while supporting the broader goals of the tax department in a hybrid work setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Support income, sales, and property tax compliance by assisting with tax provisions, tax returns, estimates, tax notices, business licenses, and additional tax functions.
Key Performance Indicators
Accuracy & Quality of Work Tax return and provision accuracy rate (percentage of work completed without errors or rework) Error rate on data-entry tasks related to tax calculations, schedules, and supporting workpapers
Timeliness & Productivity
On-time completion rate of assigned tax tasks (returns, notices, estimates, business licenses) Turnaround time for responding to internal requests and completing assigned tasks
Technical Skill Application
Effective use of Excel functions (VLOOKUP, PivotTables, formulas) demonstrated through accuracy and efficiency Proficiency with Microsoft Office, shown through well-organized workpapers, clear documentation, and professional formatting
Communication & Collaboration
Quality of written communication, measured by clarity and accuracy in emails, documentation, and workpapers Responsiveness to team members, based on average response time and collaboration effectiveness
Learning & Development
Completion of required trainings (internal controls, SOX, tax software, compliance processes) Demonstrated improvement over time in accuracy, speed, and independence

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP, PivotTables, and other advanced functions Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook Exemplary verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating professionalism in all interactions
Education and Experience
Education And Experience: Must be currently pursuing an accounting degree or related degree, with sophomore standing or higher
Working Hours
Typical business hours – 40-45+ hours per week. Occasional work outside of normal business hours depending on business needs. Hybrid position

Compensation
The position is a non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $20. The salary range is determined and based on internal equity, market data/ranges, applicant's skills, prior relevant experience and education.
