Founding Head of Operations (Nonprofit – Volunteer)

Mindful Studio, Austin, TX, United States

Mindful Collective Studio is seeking a

Founding Head of Operations

to help build the operational infrastructure of a new professional guild supporting technologists navigating industry disruption.

The technology industry is experiencing one of the largest workforce shifts in its history. Thousands of experienced technologists are navigating layoffs and long job searches while startups and nonprofits struggle to access affordable technical expertise.

Mindful Collective Studio is building a new model designed to reconnect

talent, opportunity, and community

through collaborative projects, mentorship, and shared learning.

The Founding Head of Operations will work closely with the founder to establish the operational systems, processes, and program structure needed to support members, mentors, sponsors, and partner organizations.

This role functions similarly to a

responsible for helping translate the collective’s mission into operational systems.

The operations lead will help ensure that the collective’s programs — including member onboarding, mentorship coordination, project delivery, and community operations — run smoothly as the organization grows.

This role will collaborate closely with the founder and early volunteers to build the operational foundation needed to support hundreds — and eventually thousands — of members.

Success in this role means helping transform the collective from an early community into a

well-organized, sustainable organization .

Examples of success in the first phase include:

Establishing operational processes for member and mentor onboarding

Creating internal documentation and workflows for programs and initiatives

As the collective grows, the operational scope of this role is expected to expand into a larger leadership position.

3–4 hours per week .

As membership expands — particularly once the collective grows beyond

200 members

— the organization's operational demands will increase.

PATH TO A PAID ROLE Mindful Collective Studio is being built with the intention of creating sustainable leadership roles.

As the collective secures sponsorships, project revenue, and nonprofit funding, leadership roles such as this one are expected to

transition into paid operational positions.

LOCATION Applicants must be

based in the United States .

Mindful Collective Studio currently focuses on supporting members and partner organizations across U.S. technology ecosystems.

THE COLLECTIVE MISSION Mindful Collective Studio is an experiment in building a professional guild where technologists continue learning, collaborating, and building together—even during periods of disruption.

Members work on real projects with startups and nonprofits. They expand their skills, strengthen their portfolios, and support one another through mentorship and shared experience.

We're looking for someone who believes in building a better system for supporting professionals through these shifts.
