Job Summary We are looking to appoint an experienced Tax Manager / Director Designate to strengthen our Owner‑Managed Business and SME advisory offering. The role sits within a well‑established tax function and involves advising a diverse portfolio of entrepreneurial clients on corporate and personal tax matters. It offers significant client exposure, responsibility for complex advisory work, and a key role in maintaining technical quality across the wider tax team. It is suited to a senior tax professional who operates comfortably at a strategic level and is seeking a clear pathway towards Director.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high‑quality tax advisory services to owner‑managed businesses, SMEs and their shareholders, covering both corporate and personal tax matters.
Lead client meetings to identify issues, assess risk and develop technically robust, commercially appropriate solutions.
Deliver advisory work across areas including corporate structuring, business sales and acquisitions and personal tax planning.
Act as a senior technical resource within the firm, supporting partners and other qualified staff with day‑to‑day tax queries.
Take responsibility for a significant proportion of technical reviews, ensuring advice meets internal quality standards prior to issuance to clients.
Contribute to the development of technical standards, consistency and best practice across the tax function.
About You You will be a confident, technically strong tax professional with experience operating in a structured, quality‑focused advisory environment.
Essential Criteria
CTA qualified.
Minimum of 10 years’ relevant tax experience, ideally within a professional services or advisory firm.
Strong technical expertise across corporate and personal taxation, particularly within the OMB / SME market.
Proven experience delivering and reviewing complex tax advice.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and senior internal stakeholders.
Desirable Attributes
Commercially aware, with a pragmatic approach to risk and client outcomes.
Comfortable operating within defined governance and review frameworks.
Demonstrable ambition and capability to progress to Director level.
