Our Client

Our client is a global alternative investment platform offering streamlined and efficient access to institutional level private capital and hedge funds. The firm has been a pioneer in offering alternative investment access to financial advisors and their high-net-worth clients.

Executive Director, Fund Accounting Provide strategic oversight and leadership of all fund accounting operations. Drive innovation, oversee departmental performance, and ensure alignment with our client's goals for operational excellence, accuracy, and scalability. Serve as a key decision-maker and mentor across the fund accounting and operations team.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Provide high-level oversight and review of:

Accurate and timely monthly reporting, including all reconciliations and asset valuations

Waterfall calculation development, implementation, and management.

Fund and intercompany expense allocation and amortization scheduling.

Annual firm audits and investor or underlying asset audit requests

Oversee all aspects of fund accounting operations and strategic planning.

Establish and monitor departmental KPIs and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.

Lead cross-functional initiatives to enhance process efficiency and system integration.

Maintain senior-level relationships with auditors, administrators, custodians, and key investment partners.

Approve and review complex fund structures, specialty portfolio diligence, and performance reports.

Leadership & Decision-Making Expectations

Direct and mentor accounting leadership and staff to achieve team objectives.

Develop individualized and team training plans, lead related in-person and remote sessions, and provide feedback for additional training or development needs in this regard as it relates to the accounting team, other internal teams, or outside resources.

Develop and enforce firm-wide accounting policies, controls, and standards. Including, but not limited to, maintaining critical KPIs and metrics to guide regular assessments and drive planning.

Collaborate with executive leadership to shape strategic financial initiatives.

Qualifications

8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 4 years in a leadership role within fund accounting, investment management, or comparable field.

Leadership and management experience, with a proven ability to lead teams and drive business growth

Strong expertise in private markets, alternative investments, and institutional asset management

Exceptional analytical, financial modeling, and problem-solving skills

Excellent communication, relationship management, and negotiation skills

Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance within the financial industry

Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and build strategic partnerships

CPA, CFA, or equivalent advanced degree or professional certification preferred
