Product Owner, Business Intelligence and Claim Modeling

Position Overview The Product Owner for Business Intelligence and Claim Modeling plays a central role in shaping the analytical capabilities that drive client insight, operational transparency, and strategic decision‑making. This role owns the vision, roadmap, and execution for internal Business Intelligence dashboards and the claims modeling product, ensuring each delivers measurable value, intuitive user experiences, and actionable intelligence for both clients and internal teams. The Product Owner partners closely with Client Services, Business Analysts, Engineering, and Technical Writing to manage product enhancements, translate business needs into scalable solutions, and provide high‑quality documentation and support resources. The role also serves as the primary point of contact for client relationships related to BI and modeling, helping to interpret trends, address questions, resolve issues, and bring the “voice of the customer” into product planning.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

Partner with leadership to evaluate performance trends and recommend roadmap adjustments aligned with divisional growth objectives.

Participate in Agile ceremonies: Daily Stand‑Ups, Backlog Grooming, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospective.

Assist with the elaboration of user stories and requirements, supporting team members as needed.

Own the roadmap and delivery for internal Business Intelligence dashboards, ensuring clear insights, trend analysis, and operational value.

Lead product strategy and enhancements for the claims modeling product, ensuring alignment with client needs and business goals.

Manage client relationships related to business intelligence and modeling, addressing inquiries, interpreting insights, and supporting client‑facing teams.

Define, implement, and maintain business processes and procedures to meet business objectives; analyze opportunities for improvement.

Coordinate with Technical Writers to ensure accurate, clear system documentation, release notes, and training materials.

Critically evaluate information from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, and decompose high‑level information into details.

Create and maintain workflows, approval processes, and validation rules based on stakeholder requirements.

Create training materials and documentation for internal and external applications.

Perform gap analysis of existing functionality for internal and external applications and identify integration gaps.

Collaborate with the Scrum team to establish technical vision and analyze trade‑offs between usability and performance.

Improve systems by studying current practices and designing modifications.

Define acceptance criteria and oversee UAT validation to ensure alignment with business intent.

Proactively identify gaps in data transparency or modeling accuracy and propose product enhancements.

Ensure adherence to quality assurance guidelines and compliance with privacy standards.

What You’ll Bring To Zelis (Qualifications)

Bachelor’s Degree in business, healthcare, technology, or related field.

5+ years as a healthcare data analyst or BI Product Owner.

Experience as a healthcare industry business analyst with expertise in managed care, claims pricing/adjudication, EDI, and government programs.

Strong SQL skills (Select, Joins, CTE, Sub‑Queries).

Familiarity with SDLC methodologies, including Agile.

Experience with Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence) and/or Product Board.

Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau and Sigma.

Experience in product development life cycle and writing business/technical requirements, user stories, and functional specifications.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Visio and/or Lucid.

Skill in workflow diagram and wireframe creation.

Preferred: formal training/certifications in business/system analysis, UI/UX design guidelines, SAFe/Agile methodologies, prototyping.

Creative problem‑solving, strong analytical skills, and financial modeling experience.

Demonstrated ability to evaluate and balance workloads through effective time management, prioritization, and organization.

Location and Workplace Flexibility Offices in Atlanta, GA; Boston, MA; Morristown, NJ; Plano, TX; St. Louis, MO; St. Petersburg, FL; and Hyderabad, India. The role supports a hybrid and remote‑friendly culture, with work location determined by team goals and company policies.

Base Salary Range $95,000.00 – $120,650.00. Salary reflects experience, education, qualifications, and industry knowledge. Additional compensation may include discretionary bonuses, commissions, or other incentives.
