About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Director to lead a philanthropic initiative that is at the forefront of climate action. The successful candidate will be responsible for strategic and operational leadership, with a focus on reshaping how philanthropic capital is mobilized for climate solutions. This role demands an exceptional leader with a proven track record in philanthropy, donor advising, or social impact, and a deep understanding of the philanthropic advisory ecosystem. The Executive Director will be tasked with articulating and operationalizing a long-term vision, establishing and leading a high-performing team, and positioning the organization as a trusted partner within the philanthropic ecosystem. Key responsibilities include strategic leadership, organizational culture development, and ecosystem role management, with an emphasis on urgency, sound judgment, and the ability to operate in ambiguity while building systems for long-term impact.
The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years' experience in the relevant fields, with a minimum of 5 years in executive or senior leadership roles, and a strong background in working with high-net-worth individuals and philanthropic professionals. They should be a strategic thinker, decisive leader, excellent manager, and collaborative influencer, with a bias to action and a proven track record of influencing decision-makers. Experience in climate, environmental, or related domains is preferred, as is a background in governance and board management. The role requires a leader who is data-oriented, a trusted advisor, and a systems builder, with a low ego and high accountability approach. Success in the first 24 months will be measured by the adoption of a clear strategic roadmap, the establishment of a high-performing team, and the achievement of new donor and dollar goals.
