Overview

We are looking for an exceptional candidate to join our small team to create and implement our marketing strategy on a year-round, freelance basis. Fee: £10,800 (£180/day – 60 days) | Location: Remote with regular meetings (including in person) and onsite during festival | Hours: Flexible to meet needs of festival | Contract type: Freelance until March 2027 Push the Boat Out: Edinburgh’s International Poetry Festival is a platform for poetry, spoken word and performance, with an emphasis on bringing poetry into conversation with other art forms. PTBO offers a high-quality mid-scale festival which promotes poetry as an exciting, diverse and dynamic artistic medium and contributes to the rich cultural mix of Edinburgh in progressive and developmental ways. It also delivers a growing year-round programme with a range of workshops, podcasts and events. Our engagement programme spans both working to bring poetry to communities and supporting their creativity.

Responsibilities

Lead the creation and delivery of the overall marketing strategy for the festival and our year-round programme. Develop and execute the annual festival campaign and promote year-round events to grow growth and profile. Engage broad and diverse audiences across multiple channels and ensure the festival and year-round programme are enjoyed by the broadest possible audience. Collaborate with a small team to plan, implement and monitor marketing activities, with autonomy and teamwork as required.

Candidate profile / Qualifications

Dynamic, imaginative person with enthusiasm and a high level of accuracy. Experience leading in a busy marketing role, ideally within an arts or festival environment. Comfort with autonomy and as a team player. Excellent communication skills and ability to get others excited to participate in events, engaging a range of audiences across various channels.
