Position Summary Senior Manager, Internal Communications Content & Employee Engagement (limited term, 2 years). Based in New York or Washington D.C., this role supports the Executive Office in developing and executing internal communications and employee engagement strategies that strengthen understanding of NRDC’s mission, vision, and culture.

Responsibilities

Support the execution and implementation of the internal communications strategy, including planning, project managing, and delivering coordinated messages across the organization.

Institute standard internal communications best practices.

Build the intranet: develop RFP, vet and interview consultants, manage the launch and ongoing maintenance.

Maintain the internal communication content calendar and oversee the cross‑organization calendar of activities.

Manage flow of internal communications content, linking strategy and vision to people and culture.

Develop and maintain a multichannel strategy (email, intranet, Microsoft Teams, in‑office touchpoints).

Support Executive Office and Executive Leadership Team priorities, writing and editing materials for leadership messages.

Establish and track metrics to correlate internal communications programs to organization performance.

Project manage institutional town halls, including: (a) identifying the annual calendar and at least one international town hall; (b) developing the agenda in consultation with senior leadership; (c) managing pre‑, day‑of, and post‑town hall supports; (d) developing talking points and slides.

Qualifications

4–7 years of communications, public relations, or marketing experience or equivalent.

Proven experience working globally and cross‑culturally.

Strong project management skills.

Exceptional writing and editing skills, with ability to translate complex issues for diverse internal audiences.

Excellent presentation and communication skills; outstanding writer for clear messaging to employees.

Proactive self‑starter with ability to plan, prioritize, and execute communication products for a complex internal calendar.

Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment and deliver strong written products on short deadlines.

Independent work with strategic judgment and priority management.

Strong attention to detail, proofreading, and copy‑editing skills.

Strong organizational skills and problem‑solving ability.

Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills to interface with all levels of the organization.

Sound judgment and confidentiality.

Comfortable accepting feedback and adapting to deliver desired products.
