Job Summary The IR Manager plays a critical role in executing the company's investor relations strategy and advancing its capital markets objectives. This role partners closely with the VP of Investor Relations to translate corporate strategy, financial performance, and operational results into clear, consistent, and credible messaging for the investment community. The position supports strategic IR planning, investor targeting, market intelligence, and performance measurement, while also managing day-to-day investor communications and programs.
The IR Manager will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work up to two (2) days a week remotely, as business needs allow. This role reports to VP, IR and Treasurer.
Responsibilities IR Strategy & Goals
Support development and execution of the annual Investor Relations strategy and operating plan
Define and track IR goals and success metrics (e.g., investor engagement, shareholder mix, analyst coverage, valuation positioning, liquidity)
Contribute to long-term messaging frameworks that support valuation, credibility, and differentiation versus peers
Assist in crafting consistent, accurate messaging aligned with company strategy, performance, and regulatory requirements
Implement continuous improvement processes to improve investor base quality, liquidity, analyst coverage, and capital access
Investor Engagement & Messaging
Lead development of investor-facing materials including earnings presentations, press releases, scripts, FAQs, investor decks, webinars, website content, and other external facing materials
Assist in managing inbound investors and analyst inquiries; ensure timely, accurate responses
Manage relationships with and ensure consistent messaging to key stakeholders including retail investors, buy‑side and sell‑side analysts, credit rating agencies, banks, etc.
Strategically structure investor meetings, roadshows, conferences, and site visits to optimize impact of investor interactions
Market Intelligence & Surveillance
Build and manage company and peer valuation models, as well as monitor analyst reports, earnings models, consensus estimates, and peer disclosures
Track shareholder ownership, trading activity, and investor sentiment
Prepare summaries of market activity, investor feedback, and peer benchmarking for senior management
Assist in investor targeting efforts by identifying priority investor segments aligned with the company's strategy and capital allocation framework
Compliance & Internal Coordination
Ensure all investor communications adhere to Regulation FD and corporate disclosure policies
Work closely with Finance, Treasury, Strategy, Legal, Communications, and Operations to ensure message alignment
Support internal processes related to board and committee presentations, external speaking engagements, conferences, and investor‑facing presentations
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor's degree in finance, Economics, Business or technical related discipline
Minimum of 15 years' relevant and progressive experience preferably within the oil and natural gas sector
Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in Investor Relations
Strong understanding of the financial modelling techniques used by sell‑side analysts to project a company's operating and financial performance and the resulting value for stock
Proven experience with writing investor‑facing materials such as press releases, scripts and Company letters
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
Strong written and presentation skills, with a high degree of accuracy in disclosures
Ability to travel when required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams
Proficiency in Investor Relations tools that support Surveillance, Market Research, and CRM
Ability to respect confidentiality of the information exposed to in the role
Ability to work in a collaborative team as well as independently
Ability to uphold exceptional judgement, discretion and integrity
Ability to manage several time‑sensitive projects simultaneously and with necessary urgency
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
MBA, CFA or comparable post‑graduate degree or certification
At least 5 years of experience working for and/or preferred with a publicly traded energy company, preferably upstream, that has global operations
Experience with Bloomberg, FactSet, IR Insights, AlphaSense, SAP and other financial reporting systems
