Overview Business Development Director for Clinical Trial Supply, USA

Work model:

Remote-based, ideally located in Western United States with 25-50% regular travel as required (mainly focused on the West Coast)

This position is a Remote Position, ideally located in Western United States.

This role would be responsible for generating new business and driving revenue across pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and service-provider partners, including CROs, CMOs, and CDMOs. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in expanding the company’s market presence by developing strategic relationships and converting opportunities for its commercial drug sourcing and clinical supply services, encompassing comparators, rescue medications, adjuvant therapies, and ancillary products. The position is highly commercial, with a strong focus on prospecting, relationship building, and deal execution within the complex, multi-stakeholder environments typical of clinical trials. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive, results-driven professional to make a significant impact in a growing and dynamic organization.

Key Responsibilities

Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities with pharmaceutical, biotech, CRO/CMO/CDMO, and academic partners across Phase I–IV clinical programs

Build and manage a strategic pipeline across therapeutic areas and geographies

Develop and maintain strong client relationships with procurement, clinical operations, supply chain, and quality stakeholders

Lead RFI/RFP responses, commercial proposals, negotiate master service agreements, pricing structures, and long-term partnerships

Collaborate closely with Project Managements, Operations and Quality Assurance to deliver compliant and scalable solutions

Monitor market trends, competitor offerings and regulatory developments impacting clinical supply chains

Represent the company at industry conferences and networking events

Maintain accurate forecasting and opportunity tracking in the CRM system

Contribute to commercial strategy, territory planning and client/partner development and retention

Ideal Candidate

Proven Business Development capabilities, with 5 - 7+ years of business development or commercial experience within clinical trial supply, CROs, or pharmaceutical services

Demonstrated success selling regulated, complex service offerings

Strong knowledge of GxP requirements, cold chain logistics, labeling regulations, and clinical supply models

Strong network among sponsors, biotech companies, CRO/CMO/CDMOs, and clinical operations professionals

Exceptional negotiation, communication and executive-level presentation skills

Experience managing multi-stakeholder sales cycles and projects

Highly motivated, self-driven, and commercially minded, with the ability to take initiative, drive commercial strategy, lead key initiatives, and expand into leadership responsibilities to shape business growth

Global trial experience and understanding of international distribution regulations

Consistent growth in new sponsor and service-provider relationships

Strong conversion of competitive RFPs and strategic commercial opportunities

Expansion into new therapeutic areas and client segments

Development of repeat business and longer-term partnership arrangements

Strong collaboration and alignment between commercial and operational team
