Location: Hybrid based out of Almanac Brewery in Alameda, CA
Compensation: Base salary $80,000 with a performance-based bonus program. Almanac benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401k, paid time off, paid holidays, and beer perks! Compensation package includes salary & sales bonuses.

Position Overview The National Account Manager will primarily be responsible for managing and growing Almanac’s chain retail business throughout California. This role focuses on developing relationships with key buyers, executing retail programs, coordinating with our distributor partners, and driving sustainable growth across major chain accounts. In addition to chain account responsibilities, this role may occasionally support key in-market initiatives including distributor ride-alongs, retail execution, key account visits, and select events or activations. The position works closely with the Chief Revenue Officer and distributor partners to ensure strong execution and alignment across all programs.
Key Responsibilities Chain Account Management
Manage and grow relationships with major chain retailers throughout California
Serve as the primary point of contact for key buyers and category managers
Develop annual programming and seasonal opportunities with chain partners
Coordinate chain resets, features, and promotional programs
Key Accounts – Safeway, Costco, Whole Foods Market, BevMo, Total Wine & More, Trader Joe’s
Sales Growth
Drive incremental revenue growth across existing chain partners
Identify new chain opportunities and secure new authorizations
Work with internal teams to align product launches with retail opportunities
Distributor Collaboration
Partner closely with distributor chain teams to execute national and regional programs
Monitor inventory flow, depletions, and forecast planning
Support distributor teams with account presentations and chain program execution
Program Execution
Ensure promotional programs, displays, and seasonal placements are executed successfully at retail
Track performance of chain programs/mandates and adjust strategies accordingly
Forecasting & Reporting
Maintain accurate sales forecasts and account projections
Provide regular reporting on chain performance, mandate fulfillment, opportunities, and risks
Market & Account Support
Participate in key account visits, distributor market work, and in-person retail support as needed
Occasionally support offsite events, activations, or strategic initiatives (e.g., key account events, regional activations, or brand-building opportunities)
Travel within California as needed to support key accounts and business priorities
Qualifications
5+ years experience in beverage alcohol sales
Experience managing chain retail accounts or national accounts
Strong understanding of the three-tier distribution system
Ability to manage distributor relationships and execute retail programs
Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills; ability to present & speak in front of large groups, conduct trainings/promotions, and effectively collaborate with diverse groups
Willingness to travel within California as needed
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Suite applications including Google Drive, Google Sheets, and Google Docs
Ability to take initiative and work with a limited amount of direction; ability to work both independently and within a team to accomplish goals
Preferred Experience
Craft beer industry experience
Experience working with California retail chains
Strong relationships with chain buyers and distributor chain teams
Cicerone or equivalent training a plus
Requirements
Must have a personal vehicle that is in good working condition
Must provide proof of valid California Driver’s License, CA vehicle registration and automobile insurance
Must provide proof of a clean driving record
Must pass post-offer, pre-employment background check
Able to regularly twist, turn, lift supplies and equipment up to 30‑lb (i.e., cases of beer)
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
