
Senior Estimator (Chicago/Downers Grove)

Overview
The Senior / Lead Estimator will be responsible for leading Construction Design-Build and EPC estimates and proposals for a diverse portfolio of project types and clients. We are seeking a hybrid estimator with experience in both earthwork/environmental remediation and water/wastewater construction. In this client-facing role the estimator develops and prices conceptual estimates to aid clients in making fact‑based decisions, presents accurate estimates in a credible and professional manner, and minimizes risk to the company.
Responsibilities
Lead estimating strategy and implementation efforts.
Review and approve project summary schedules for validity.
Manage workload scheduling to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
Lead risk review process.
Ensure compliance with estimating methodology to produce quality estimates.
Lead project team review for estimating quantities and scope of project.
Review and approve quotes on bonds and insurance.
Review and approve small and disadvantaged business solicitation and evaluations.
Lead subcontractor solicitation and pre‑qualification reviews.
Review and approve specialty and standard equipment pricing.
Verify subcontractor bid packages before transmission for quotes.
Present the estimate to internal and external clients.
Review final estimate before management review and proposal presentation.
Lead estimating teams for completion of pre‑construction services.
Maintain cost history, database management and estimating process.
Approve price general conditions, indirect costs and review as provided by project management team.
Make final recommendations on fee, contingency and escalation.
Provide man‑hour quotes for required estimating effort.
Develop strategy on contract partnering agreements.
Prepare and present estimating data for risk review process.
Verify and approve estimates for joint venture reviews.
Review commercial terms and conditions and address risk issues.
Validate value engineering items, alternates and options.
Ensure accuracy and validity of estimate clarifications and assumptions.
Review documents for gaps and overlaps in scope of work.
Train and mentor staff.
Maintain OSHA 10‑hour certification.
Become proficient with InEight estimating software.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field, and 7 years of direct project estimating experience required. Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Ability to work independently or in groups, think creatively and analytically, and make quick and sound decisions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Expert with Microsoft Office, ConEst and K-base.
InEight experience preferred.
OSHA 10‑hour certification required.
Compensation $150,000.00–200,000.00 yearly. The expected compensation range is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year‑end incentive bonus program.
