Shift 1 (United States of America) Position
Grant Writer — Vitalant Foundation Location
This hybrid role is based at our National Headquarters in Scottsdale, AZ, with a schedule of three in-office days per week and two remote work-from-home days. Compensation
Compensation: $70,000 - $80,000 Benefits and Rewards

Research and identify grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government sources aligned with organizational priorities. Write and submit persuasive grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documents. Manage the full grant lifecycle, including proposal writing, deadline tracking, compliance, and impact reporting. Collaborate with program staff and leadership to gather necessary data for proposals. Maintain a comprehensive grants calendar to track applications, deadlines, and reporting requirements. Support content development for donor communications, stewardship reports, and fundraising campaigns. Stay current on trends and best practices in philanthropy, grant writing, and healthcare funding. Requirements
Knowledge/ Education
Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Public Health, or a related field. (Master’s degree preferred) Minimum of 3–5 years of successful grant writing experience, preferably in a healthcare, biomedical research, or nonprofit environment. Certification with AGWA (American Grant Writer’s Association) preferred.
Licenses/ Certifications
CFRE a plus
Experience
Proven track record of securing grants of $25,000+ from private and corporate foundations. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
Skills/Abilities
Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise, and compelling narratives. Strong project management and organizational skills; able to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously. Familiarity with grant databases, donor management systems (e.g., Virtuous), and Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of healthcare or blood services/philanthropy a plus. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
