
Legal Director

EMEA Recruitment is seeking an experienced Legal Director to join a growing international FMCG business based in New Jersey, North America.
About the Role This is a brand new role, reporting to the General Counsel, offering the opportunity to shape and lead the North American team. You will act as a trusted Legal advisor to the business, providing strategic and practical support across commercial matters, contract drafting
egotiation, litigation management, and advertising review, leading a lean, high-impact Legal team. This is a rare opportunity to step into a highly visible Legal leadership role, shaping Legal strategy within a newly carved-out and transforming business, while partnering directly with senior leaders across the North American state and globally in a collaborative environment, driving major rebrand and transformation initiatives.
Responsibilities
Lead the Legal function in a highly visible, senior leadership role, acting as the principal Legal advisor to the North America business
Shape and influence Legal strategy within a newly carved-out, evolving organization at a pivotal stage of growth and transformation
Partner directly with senior leadership across both North America and the global organization, with significant exposure to executive decision-making
Play a central role in a major rebrand and business transformation, providing strategic Legal guidance on key commercial and operational priorities
Operate in a lean, collaborative environment where your judgment, leadership, and commercial input will have real impact across the business
Qualifications
10+ years of Legal experience
US-qualified attorney, admitted and in good standing in at least one state
Strong in-house consumer goods background
Deep experience in Advertising Law/Marketing Legal review
Proven expertise in product claims substantiation and clearance
Experience in transformation, carve-out, spin-off, or PE-backed environments is highly attractive
Pay range and compensation package
Bonus: 30%
Pension: 401k

Hybrid: 3 days/week in office
