Director of Accounting & Financial Services
We are conducting a search for a senior leadership role overseeing the Accounting Division, including financial reporting, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and asset management, while also serving as the agency’s official treasurer. Reporting to the Deputy CFO, the Director will provide strategic financial leadership, guide a strong accounting team, manage the annual audit process, and present regularly to executives and the Board of Directors.
Highlights of the Role
Lead accounting & payroll functions, ensuring compliance with GAAP and state/federal regulations
Direct the annual audit process and serve as the key point of contact with state auditors
Oversee the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and other required reporting
Guide the use of financial systems and process improvements across the organization
Mentor and develop staff while fostering a collaborative, values‑driven culture
Ideal Background
7+ years of public sector/governmental accounting
Strong knowledge of GAAP, governmental accounting, and financial systems (PeopleSoft/Prophix a plus)
Experience managing audits and presenting to executives/boards
Leadership – must have previous experience leading/managing a team
CPA or related certification strongly preferred
Salary range:
$133,860 – $200,790 (target midpoint $167,325)
