Job Description Boldface Studio is seeking a part-time contract designer, approximately 20-25 hours per week. We’re willing to work with/train someone who is in the beginning stage of their career, but are also open to seasoned designers. We want someone who will stay long-term.
The ideal candidate has excellent concept, layout, and typography skills. Someone who is well-versed in InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, but is also willing to learn new things. Someone who understands print and digital, but is also interested in large-scale graphics and 3D design. Someone with a sense of humor, yet professional; someone who is level-headed, yet thinks outside the box; and someone kind and fun to be around.
This position is mainly remote, with some time in the office to learn the ropes, occasional in-person meetings, on-site installs, and press checks.
We have flexible hours and follow Plano ISD/major holidays.
Job Responsibilities
Lead projects through concept, design, and production (both print and digital) often using existing brand guidelines
Make edits to existing projects/designs; we all wear all hats in this studio
Prepare and oversee production of projects, including working with vendors to provide print specs, paper selections, pre-press approvals, and press checks
Work in a collaborative environment
Juggle multiple projects at a time while managing budgets and timelines
Present ideas and solutions to clients with confidence
Job Qualifications
4-year graphic design or related degree
Open to new or seasoned designers that are willing to work part-time
Excellent concept, layout/composition, and typographic skills as shown through portfolio
Proficiency in MacOS, with expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop; bonus if you know or are willing to learn Premiere, After Effects, etc.
Detail-oriented with excellent time management and communication skills
Organizational skills with proficiency using project management software like Asana, Basecamp, Workast, Monday, etc.
Positive attitude and desire to work as a team
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work flexible hours; however, there will be specific availabilityfor client meetings and occasional days in-person when needed
