Creates the appropriate vision, strategy and tactics to deliver against both short and long term objectives. Responsible for achieving budgeted sales, profit, and inventory productivity objectives. Directs and evaluates performance of category team members. Responsible for the training and development category merchants, associate merchants, and assistant merchants. Informs the creation and management of optimal assortments, retail pricing, and promotions within each assigned category to drive member value, regional relevance, inventory productivity, and club efficiency. This pertains to both national brands and own brands products. Leverages interpersonal skills to develop and maintain strong internal organizational collaboration across Logistics, Operations, Marketing, Finance, and other functions. Assists with the development and management of collaborative vendor relationships. The Category Director is responsible for educating and leading his/her team in adopting to category management best practices in regard to category roles, assortment, and space management. Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree Required Minimum of 5 years direct buying/merchandising experience at a mid-management level; 8 - 10 years of category management/leadership experience in a merchandising or procurement function. Proven leadership skills required Strong negotiation and analytical skills required Category management expertise required Expert knowledge of industry trends, competition, assortment planning, inventory management, logistics and marketing techniques. Location: This is a hybrid role. Tuesday through Thursday are in-office days at BJ's Club Support Center in Marlborough, MA and Monday and Friday are remote days. Pay range: $149,000 - $214,750.00. (Actual salaries vary based on location, education, experience, and qualifications.)
