Job Summary
KAIT 8 is seeking a dynamic and creative individual who possesses passion and energy for generating captivating sports coverage, crafting written content to complement video, and delivering engaging live shots on‑air and online. As a member of the K8 Sports team, you will be self‑motivated and driven, consistently striving for excellence each day. Duties / Responsibilities
Post sports reports online to the station website and social media platforms. Utilize various resources, including local community contacts, press releases, digital media, and wire services, to gather information for sports content and features. Collaborate with the Sports Director, producers, reporters, and news management to stay updated on breaking sports news and develop stories. Conduct live on‑location sports reporting during breaking sports news, events, and community happenings, demonstrating engaging sports reporting skills and the ability to think on your feet. Maintain composure and deliver clear and concise live sports reporting even in high‑pressure situations. Serve as the anchor for weekend sports presenting scores and features with clarity, professionalism, and poise. Write, edit, and proofread sports scripts for your anchor segments, ensuring accuracy and adherence to station standards. Collaborate with the Sports Director, producers, and the news team to select relevant sports features, developing a strong understanding of regional sporting events and local sports trends. Travel to different local locations for sports coverage. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field. Basic experience with newsroom computer systems is preferred (ENPS). Understanding of and adherence to AP Style (for digital platforms) and broadcast writing (for television). Ability to operate a field camera, editing, and lighting equipment. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Professional representation of the station in the community and newsroom, including on social media.
