About The Role A leading accounting firm is seeking a
Tax Director
to lead complex tax compliance and planning engagements for a high‑complexity client base. This role is ideal for a technically strong leader who enjoys advisory work, mentoring teams, and overseeing quality across complex tax engagements. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor to clients, support technical review, and help guide and develop tax professionals across multiple engagements.
Responsibilities Tax Compliance & Planning
Lead and review complex tax returns for Individuals (1040), Partnerships / flow-through entities (1065), Trusts and related filings, and Corporate returns as applicable.
Provide proactive planning support including entity structuring and year‑end planning.
Ensure compliance with federal and state tax requirements.
Stay current on tax law changes and advise on client impact.
Client Advisory
Manage client relationships and serve as a primary point of contact.
Communicate complex tax matters clearly and confidently.
Partner with internal leadership to support engagement success.
Leadership
Mentor and develop managers, seniors, and associates.
Provide technical guidance and review support.
Contribute to process improvements and workflow enhancements.
Support recruiting and onboarding as needed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, or related field.
CPA required.
10+ years of tax experience in public accounting.
Strong technical expertise in complex individual taxation (1040), flow‑through / partnership taxation (1065).
Proven experience leading teams and reviewing complex returns.
Strong client management and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading planning‑heavy engagements.
Exposure to multi‑state tax issues.
Prior Director experience or Senior Manager experience leading complex engagements.
Compensation
Up to $205,000 base salary DOE.
Bonus eligibility.
Hybrid/remote flexibility and flexible scheduling.
