Job Description The Senior Retail Consultant for Retail Merchandising Products & Solutions is a key member of the Retail Strategic Initiative team, responsible for providing domain-based thought leadership and evangelizing next‑generation merchandising product across the entire Americas region. This role requires deep domain authority across the merchandising value chain—including assortment, space, display, price, promo, etc.
As a trusted advisor and evangelist, the consultant will partner with retail clients to shape their merchandising vision, identify opportunities for transformation, and articulate the value of our next‑generation merchandising solutions. The consultant will act as a bridge between business and technology, collaborating with C‑level executives and senior leaders to drive alignment on strategic initiatives and innovative product strategies.
Responsibilities
Leverage practitioner experience: Draw on deep, hands‑on experience as a merchandising practitioner to understand client challenges, operational realities, and best practices across the merchandising value chain.
Drive product and solution demonstrations: Lead compelling demonstrations of merchandising products and solutions, translating operational needs into real‑world use cases that resonate with practitioners and executives alike.
Champion next‑generation technology: Stay at the forefront of merchandising technology trends, proactively identifying and evangelizing innovative solutions that shape the future of retail merchandising.
Bridge operations and innovation: Connect operational expertise with emerging technologies, helping clients envision and realize tomorrow’s merchandising strategies.
Align solutions to client needs: Map client requirements to the capabilities of our merchandising portfolio, ensuring solutions address both current operational challenges and future growth opportunities.
Lead discovery and solutioning workshops: Facilitate workshops that uncover pain points, define solution approaches, and build consensus around transformation initiatives, drawing on both practical experience and industry foresight.
Collaborate with product and engineering teams: Provide practitioner‑driven feedback to influence product roadmaps, ensuring solutions remain relevant and impactful.
Mentor and inspire teams: Share practitioner insights and a passion for innovation with internal teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
Support sales and business development: Partner with sales teams to develop strategies, respond to RFPs/RFIs, and deliver presentations that highlight both operational credibility and visionary thinking.
Enable client success: Guide clients through the adoption of merchandising solutions, supporting change management and ensuring successful implementation with a practitioner’s perspective.
Qualifications
MBA or advanced degree in retail disciplines.
Minimum of 13 years total professional experience, with at least 7 years of retail merchandising operational experience and proven expertise in at least two merchandising sub‑domains (category management, assortment, space planning, price & promo management, etc.).
3+ years of experience in a product management role for merchandising solutions or a retail solution pre‑sales role is a great plus.
Exposure to merchandising tools and processes.
Bachelor of Computer Science degree.
Salary Range $126,000 – $174,000 per year.
