Our client is an architectural lighting manufacturers’ representative firm supporting commercial and institutional construction projects. The business has grown quickly in the NYC market and is expanding its Upstate New York coverage across multiple offices. Position Overview

Our client is hiring an Outside Sales Representative to grow contractor relationships and drive project activity in Upstate New York, with priority coverage in Syracuse, Albany, Rochester, and Buffalo. This is a field-based, production-focused role for someone who wants to build a territory over time and be paid based on results. Responsibilities

Build and expand relationships with electrical contractors and other project decision-makers across the local market. Generate new project opportunities by getting pulled into active bids and early-stage conversations. Prepare quotes, manage alternates, and support value engineering requests to win work without giving away margin. Manage the process from quote to order, including submittals, revisions, and closeout coordination. Partner closely with internal quotations, project management, and order support teams to execute accurately and on time. Maintain consistent activity levels in the field and track pipeline and wins in the CRM. Represent manufacturers in territory through job walks, contractor meetings, and manufacturer visits as needed. Qualifications / Skills

Experience selling construction-related products into electrical contractors, general contractors, or similar buyers. Comfortable in bid-driven environments that require quoting, plan review, and persistent follow-up. Proven ability to generate new business through consistent field activity and relationship development. Lighting, electrical, controls, or other technical building-products experience preferred. Strong attention to detail and follow-through across long sales and fulfillment cycles. Based in, or willing to relocate to: Syracuse, Albany, Rochester, or Buffalo. Comfortable working from the local office when needed, especially early on, with most time spent in the field. Other Relevant Information
