Role Overview
Director, Advanced Planning is a client-facing role serving primarily as an estate planning subject matter authority for Fidelity’s high net worth clients and their advisors.
As a member of a regionally-aligned Advanced Planning team, you will provide comprehensive financial and estate planning support, assist the Vice President of Advanced Planning Market Lead with advisor training, regional business development, and thought leadership. Video technology is used for remote client and advisor meetings, and collaboration occurs both virtually and in-person to enhance client impact.
Travel is typically 5–20% of your time, and this remote role requires residents within commuting distance to an Investor or regional center in Kentucky, Ohio, or Tennessee.
Expertise and Skills You Bring
Bachelor’s Degree with any of the following designations preferred: CPA, JD, M.T., LLM in taxation
10–12 years overall work experience with 4 years of trusts and estate planning, income tax planning or succession planning work experience within a public accounting, law practice, or wealth management industry environment
FINRA Series 7 and 66 obtained within 90‑days of employment
Estate Planning, family wealth transfer planning, wills/trusts, income taxation, and trust and estate taxation knowledge (required)
Retirement, financial, investment, and insurance planning preferred
Effective at providing and receiving coaching and mentorship
Thrives in a team environment to provide an exceptional client planning experience
Communicates complex subjects clearly and effectively
Proven emotional intelligence to optimally bond with and communicate with clients and their advisors
Possesses a solution‑oriented, client‑first work ethic
Works independently, balances competing tasks, and prioritizes work to maintain efficiency
Maintains a positive professional attitude, with a thoughtful approach to delivering successful customer outcomes
