This position offers a hybrid work option up to 50% remote and is based out of the Sun Prairie, WI office location.
The contributions you will make This position provides tax preparation, planning, and consulting support for clients and the Tax and Accounting team. You will collaborate to build relationships with clients and offer tax and accounting knowledge and services under the direct mentoring of a Senior Tax Consultant.
A typical day Tax Services
Perform tax estimates and prepare income tax returns for clients in a timely manner in accordance with IRS code requirements and Compeer policies. Research and present tax planning opportunities for client portfolios under guidance of a Senior Tax Consultant. Maintain an established portfolio of tax clients. Partner with Senior Tax Consultants during transition meetings. Mentor and support tax interns during tax season. Plan and organize workload for maximum efficiency and productivity. Collect on delinquent client accounts.
Accounting Services
Process accounting transactions in a timely manner and in accordance with GAAP and Compeer policies. Provide accurate and timely accounting processing and delivery of financial statements to clients. Handle less complex accounting accounts, including depreciation, payroll processing, and full‑service accounts. Meet multiple deadlines for tax planning, W‑2 and 1099 preparation, and year‑end tax preparation. Assist Compeer team members and clients with accounting questions.
Industry Expertise
Actively learn all aspects of tax planning and preparation. Seek out and participate in opportunities for self‑development of technical knowledge, business management, tax law, or interpersonal skills. Provide answers and expertise on tax and accounting to team members and clients. Participate in the development and presentation of ongoing educational programs for team members and clients regarding tax and accounting services. Assist on client visits and community events. Develop knowledge in all Compeer products and services.
Sales and Prospecting
Market and cross‑sell all Compeer products and services to existing clients and prospects. Develop relationships with team members in assigned office or territory to facilitate referrals and new business.
The skills and experience we prefer you have Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient for essential duties. Minimum of 1 year of tax preparation experience preferred. Progressively gain knowledge of Compeer’s products, services and farm tax principles. Knowledge, technical competency and technological effectiveness in tax planning and preparation that meets client needs. Strong written and verbal communication skills. High degree of accuracy and organization. Exercise a high level of ethical and professional judgment and integrity. Strong computer skills, including MS Office and tax/accounting software. Skill in developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships. Analytical skills with attention to detail. Problem‑solving, decision‑making and organizational skills. Ability to work evenings and weekends to meet deadlines and client expectations. Some travel required to conduct on‑farm services, attend department meetings, and pursue continuing education opportunities. Work closely with all team members to effectively meet and/or exceed client needs. Ability to grow client portfolio.
Compensation and Benefits Base Pay: $57,900 – $82,100 USD. This role is eligible for variable compensation and other benefits.
