About the Intellectual Property – Patent Prosecution Section Our patent practice offers comprehensive strategic counseling in patent law and practice that enables our clients to clarify goals, find solutions, and achieve results throughout the innovation lifecycle. Our patent attorneys and agents advise clients on obtaining and enforcing patent protection, licensing or acquiring patent rights, executing financing and other business transactions, and navigating the patent landscape in their various industries. Responsibilities Mintz is seeking a highly motivated Technical Advisor or Patent Agent with a Ph.D. in biological sciences to join our dynamic Boston office. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of cutting-edge biotechnology, collaborating with leading innovators to build and strengthen valuable IP portfolios. In this role, you will: Drive the management of global patent portfolios, coordinating prosecution strategies with foreign associates across jurisdictions Draft compelling office action responses and skillfully prosecute patent applications Partner directly with scientists and inventors to transform breakthrough ideas into strong patent applications Analyze complex scientific literature, patents, and applications across diverse biological fields Conduct patent landscape and freedom-to-operate analyses to support strategic decision-making Collaborate with investors on IP diligence for high-impact investment opportunities Contribute to IP diligence efforts for biotech IPOs and other sophisticated capital markets transactions Collaboration with team members is an important component of any role at Mintz. Therefore, the firm requires working from the office approximately 60% of the time in accordance with the firm’s published guidelines. Qualifications: Ph.D. degree in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Computational Biology, Protein Design, and Structural Biology or related fields Strong analytical skills, with the ability to independently identify and analyze scientific and technical issues Proficient scientific writing ability Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific concepts for diverse audiences Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities A collaborative approach and enthusiasm for working in a team-driven environment USPTO admission preferred (but not required) About Mintz Mintz is an Am Law 100 law firm with over 500 attorneys serving clients worldwide.
