Strategy & Operations Associate

Forter, New York, NY, United States

About the role Reporting to Forter's Chief of Staff, the Associate, Strategy & Operations will serve as a force‑multiplier for the Chief of Staff function — driving execution of high‑priority cross‑functional initiatives, maintaining the operational cadences that keep the leadership team aligned, and supporting the preparation of key moments such as board meetings and quarterly offsites. This high‑visibility, high‑impact role combines sharp analytical thinking with strong execution discipline, partnering with senior leaders across the entire business and building the operational muscle to grow into roles of increasing strategic scope over time.

Cross‑Functional Project Management

Support end‑to‑end execution of high‑priority, ad hoc strategic projects on behalf of the Chief of Staff and President, managing scope, timelines, and stakeholder coordination from kickoff through completion.

Develop and maintain structured tracking systems (e.g., project plans, dashboards, status trackers) to provide the Chief of Staff and leadership team with clear visibility into initiative progress and blockers.

Work across Sales, Product, Finance, Marketing and other functions to surface dependencies, align on priorities and unblock execution, serving as a connective layer between teams.

Quickly diagnose obstacles slowing down key workstreams and surface proposed solutions to the Chief of Staff, with a bias toward action.

Management Rhythm & Operating Cadence

Support leadership cadences by preparing materials, pre‑reads and follow‑up summaries for key meetings.

Track action items and commitments from management meetings and offsites, following up with owners to ensure completion and escalating where needed.

Identify opportunities to improve how the leadership team operates—from meeting formats to reporting templates—and build scalable processes where gaps exist.

Board & Executive Preparation Support

Coordinate quarterly board meeting preparation—collecting inputs, consolidating content and ensuring materials are accurate, consistent and on schedule.

Help develop and enforce standardized presentation frameworks for leaders to present projects and goals, ensuring consistency across the board deck and other executive communications.

Assist with organizing dry‑run sessions and managing follow‑up after board meetings, including tracking decisions and action items.

Offsites & Strategic Events

Partner with the Chief of Staff to plan and execute quarterly leadership offsites—building detailed agendas with clear objectives, coordinating logistics and preparing materials.

Support facilitation by tracking time, capturing notes and ensuring discussions move toward concrete decisions and outcomes.

Produce clear post‑offsite summaries documenting key takeaways, decisions and follow‑up plans and distribute these to all participants with assigned owners and timelines.

Strategic Research & Analysis

Conduct structured research and analysis to support the Chief of Staff and President on strategic questions—synthesizing findings into clear, concise frameworks or recommendations.

Build slide decks, memos and briefing documents that distill complex information for senior leadership audiences.

What you’ll need

MBA with 2+ years of experience in management consulting, investment banking or a similar high‑output analytical environment. Experience in a tech or high‑growth company is a plus.

Strong project‑management skills—able to break down complex initiatives, build plans and keep multiple workstreams moving simultaneously.

Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities without letting things fall through the cracks.

Sharp analytical and structured thinking skills; comfortable turning ambiguous questions into clear frameworks or recommendations.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create crisp, polished presentations and written materials for an executive audience.

Low ego, high ownership—comfortable doing whatever it takes from strategic analysis to logistical coordination to support the people you serve.
