Daikin Applied is seeking a
Technical Writer
who will create technical documents for HVAC systems. Develop technical content under general supervision through research and analysis of engineering documents and consultation with subject matter experts and cross‑functional teams at all levels of the organization. Create clear and concise technical documentation for product communication including service bulletins, installation, maintenance, operating manuals, and product catalogs. What you will do
Author and maintain a large volume of technical operation manuals and other service documents
Work with applicable engineers to develop detailed descriptions of the equipment/unit controls, including installation, interface, operation modes, operation sequence, controller input, outputs, communication, system status, alarms and troubleshooting
Assist in proofing and editing technical publications of other writers for conformance to style and format
Organize and research available data and write technical manuscripts from the data, including procedures and parts lists
Determine illustration needs and recommend content to illustrators
Meet with other writers to determine project assignments and report project status
Schedule and conduct review meetings to approve new or revised publications before the final version is released
Assist in the development and revision of style guides that meet the specific needs of company products
Perform other work‑related tasks as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from a four‑year college or university in English, Journalism, Technical Communication, Professional Writing
1‑2 years of Technical Writing experience with a heavy emphasis on developing documentation for commercial products system communications and controls
Proficiency of authoring and desktop publishing tools, specifically MS Word, Excel, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop)
Knowledge of Microsoft 365 products, including Outlook, Skype for Business, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint
Analytical – Ability to gather and assess documentation to create and update user documentation in compliance with engineering technical input, best practices, and department standards
Ability to translate highly technical concepts into understandable content for the end user
Project Management – Ability to determine project scope, budget and execute and complete assigned projects and deliverables
Problem‑Solving – Ability to balance work volume and quality and appropriately elevate potential risks and issues to management
Must be able to work independently as well as collaborate with a team to publish high‑quality technical documentation
HVAC Industry preferred

The typical hourly rate for this position ranges from $25.73–$44.45 an hour in MN. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
