Who We Are And What We Do The Office of Business and Finance (OBF) serves as the fiscal authority and strategic partner within the Department of Finance & Administration. We provide centralized financial management, accounting, budgeting, and oversight to support agency operations across the State of Tennessee. How You Make a Difference In This Role In this role, you will play a critical leadership role in ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and operational efficiency across the department. You will oversee key fiscal functions, support strategic decision‑making, and help drive continuous improvement in financial processes. This role is ideal for a collaborative leader who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and is passionate about public service and fiscal stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and oversee fiscal operations, including financial reporting, accounts receivable/payable, and regulatory compliance.

Ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes in coordination with the Division of Accounts. Direct preparation and submission of agency budgets, work program adjustments, and budget reversion summaries.

Provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.

Strengthen enterprise risk management practices and maintain effective internal controls.

Support audit readiness and ensure compliance with applicable standards and policies.

Develop and improve fiscal processes, procedures, and documentation.

Collaborate with internal teams, central agencies, and legislative stakeholders.

Supervise, mentor, and develop staff to build a high‑performing team.

Support special projects, procurement activities, and contract oversight.

Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and at least five years of full‑time professional fiscal services and/or auditing work, including at least one year of experience supervising fiscal and/or auditing staff. Transcripts required.
