Senior Legal Counsel
Qohash Inc, Ontario, CA, United States
At Qohash, we're building a foundational pillar of Canada's digital sovereignty. As AI adoption accelerates and data becomes a strategic national asset, we believe security must scale differently — without moving or copying data.
We seek bold, mission‑driven individuals energized by meaningful impact — not incremental change. You thrive in high‑stakes, fast‑moving environments where policy, technology, and global expansion converge. You take ownership, embrace constructive conflict, and act with accountability even when the path isn’t fully defined.
We value people who combine technical depth with strategic clarity — leaders who pursue excellence, show resilience under pressure, and collaborate across disciplines to protect the world’s most sensitive data.
…Company culture is at our core
Do our values speak to you?
Pursuit of excellence
Data security companies that aren’t constantly improving every aspect of what they mean by ‘excellent’ shouldn’t exist.
Resilience
Security is a marathon without a finish line. Our customers and employees must have the support they need.
Mission focus
We are here to protect the world’s most sensitive data and create a safer digital future for all.
Accountability
Trust is earned through actions, not blame or wishful thinking. Fulfill promises and take responsibility for mistakes.
Embracing conflict
To reach consensus and problem‑solve quickly, it’s important to communicate honestly and courageously.
Who you are You’re a commercially‑minded legal professional who has made the leap from a top‑tier law firm into the fast‑moving world of tech startups. You thrive in environments where business objectives and legal risk must be balanced — not where risk elimination is the default. You are preferably bilingual (EN/FR), deeply familiar with either Ontario or Quebec’s legal landscape, and comfortable engaging directly with enterprise clients, executives, and external legal teams. You understand that at the Series B stage, speed and pragmatism matter as much as precision, and you bring the startup mindset to match.
What you will do
Draft, review, and negotiate MSAs, DPAs, SLAs, Order Forms, partnership agreements, and other critical contracts to ensure legal soundness and strategic alignment
Establish and maintain a commercial contract playbook from the ground up, enabling faster and more consistent deal execution
Advocate for Qohash’s interests during enterprise client and vendor negotiations, including with major enterprise partners
Navigate enterprise security procurement processes, including SOC 2 compliance documentation and customer security questionnaires, to prevent deal delays
Collaborate with the infosec team to navigate enterprise security procurement processes, including SOC 2 compliance documentation and customer security questionnaires, to prevent deal delays
Support HR and management in resolving employee, commercial and corporate legal matters efficiently and effectively
Act as a trusted legal advisor to the executive team, aligning legal initiatives with corporate objectives
Serve as the primary legal point of contact for enterprise customers, projecting professionalism and expertise
Identify and mitigate legal risks across local and international operations
Coordinate with external counsel on labor standards, employment law, and regulatory requirements across all jurisdictions in which Qohash operates, including Quebec, Ontario, EU and applicable US states
Must Haves
A strong alignment with our Core Values
Licensed member of the Quebec Bar and/or Ontario Bar with a deep understanding of provincial laws and regulations
7+ years of proven legal experience, with demonstrated strength in commercial law, SaaS contracts, and data privacy
4+ years of legal experience as an in‑house counsel at technology companies (preferably growth‑stage start‑up)
Demonstrated ability to negotiate and manage complex, high‑value contracts.
Exceptional client‑facing skills with the ability to engage with senior stakeholders confidently.
Demonstrated ability to transition from a risk‑elimination mindset to a business‑first, risk‑management approach.

Experience with data privacy across multiple regions (Canada, US, Europe)
Basic knowledge in labour law of Quebec and Ontario
Experience working in the cybersecurity industry
