We have significant growth objectives enabled by the backing and mandate of affiliates of Apollo Global Management and are seeking an experienced and highly-motivated Asset Review Specialist to support our due diligence activities in connection with the acquisition, management, and disposition of residential mortgage loans. In this role you will oversee and evaluate third-party due diligence reviews. This role ensures the accuracy, completeness, and risk assessment of data from TPRs and supports Trading and Transaction Management to make informed decisions. The ideal candidate thrives in a creative, fast‑moving environment and is comfortable managing data, analytics, reporting, and communications at scale. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Third-Party Due Diligence Oversight
Develop product-specific sampling methodologies and TPR review scopes. Coordinate preparation and distribution of data files required for TPR reviews. Review and validate Reliance Letters related to TPR reports. Review and validate third-party due diligence reports, including data integrity, credit, compliance, and property valuation reviews Re-underwrite loans to validate or dispute conditions Challenge vendor findings where appropriate and coordinate re-reviews or escalations Analyze TPR report data relative to bid data and identify material changes Evaluate grading methodologies (e.g., EV1, EV2, EV3 or equivalent) and ensure consistency with internal credit policy Assess regulatory compliance with federal and state lending regulations (e.g., ATR/QM, TRID, RESPA, TILA, ECOA) Evaluate appraisal standards and property valuation findings Transaction Support
Address and resolve findings with buy-side and sell-side transaction counterparties Quantify findings-related risk exposure Work with Transaction Management and Trading to quantify risks and support re-pricing decisions Prepare executive summaries outlining key findings, trends, and risk concentrations Serve as primary point of contact for third-party due diligence firms Review vendor work product and reporting standards Monitor vendor performance and turnaround times relative to SLAs and transaction requirements Balance vendor load based on relevant quality and capacity metrics Process Improvement
Identify process improvements to reduce exceptions and operational risk Assist in developing and maintaining operating procedures related to due diligence management Maintain documentation to support internal/external audits Data & Reporting
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, real estate, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience 5-7+ years of RML due diligence review and underwriting experience Experience working in an active loan trading environment, mortgage banking, correspondent lending, TPR firm, etc. Direct experience reviewing third-party due diligence reports for bulk or correspondent whole loan trades Strong knowledge of various loan products and related origination guidelines, including Agency NOO, Jumbo, Non-QM, CES, HELOCs, and RTLs Familiarity with whole loan and securitization transaction processes Adept at learning and working in SaaS-type technology platforms and managing data accordingly, whether in a system of record or separately in Excel Ability to reconcile large data sets and loan schedules accurately Exceptional attention to detail Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Ability to manage multiple trades and deadlines concurrently Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills Proactive and solutions-oriented mindset Preferred Qualifications
Existing relationships with institutional RML sellers and buyers Existing relationships with TPR firms Knowledge of industry standard LOS platforms Exposure to non-performing/re-performing mortgage loans Pay Range
$150,000-200,000 Your actual compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness. You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
