True Classic is hiring a
Senior Legal Counsel
to lead our global legal strategy across corporate governance, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, privacy, employment, marketing, and commercial contracting. In this role you will serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and founders, proactively manage legal risk, and build scalable legal frameworks that enable sustainable growth and innovation across the business.
All of True Classic's roles are global and omni-channel, leading designated areas of accountability across all product categories, countries, and different sales & marketing channels. This means you will have the opportunity to impact our operations worldwide, ensuring a cohesive strategy that aligns with our overall business objectives and drives success across various markets and platforms.
Areas of Accountability Strategic Legal Leadership
Serve as a key legal advisor to executive leadership and founders on critical business initiatives
Anticipate legal risks and opportunities, developing proactive strategies that support growth and innovation
Translate complex legal concepts into practical, business-oriented guidance
Corporate, International & Regulatory
Manage corporate governance processes, including documentation and compliance requirements
Oversee global regulatory compliance programs across privacy and data security, marketing, product, operations, and employment
Monitor evolving legal and regulatory developments and translate them into actionable business guidance
Intellectual Property & Privacy
Oversee the company’s global IP portfolio, including prosecution, brand protection, and enforcement
Lead the development and maintenance of privacy policies and procedures
Ensure compliance with applicable global privacy and data protection regulations
Commercial Contracts & Employment
Structure, draft, and negotiate a high volume of commercial agreements (e.g., supply agreements, software agreements, marketing agreements, real estate leases)
Advise the HR team on employment law matters, including policies, investigations, and compliance
Support Marketing and Product teams with risk assessments, campaign reviews, and terms & conditions
Qualifications
Qualified attorney and Member of the California Bar (in good standing) or eligible to register as California Registered In-House Counsel
6-8 years of experience working in a law firm and/or in-house legal department
Experience working in the technology/e-commerce sectors is a plus
Experience in implementing and administering compliance programs a plus
Excellent problem-solving capabilities, judgment, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to provide quick-thinking, pragmatic, business-oriented advice while properly balancing risks and business reward
Ability to manage workloads, multiple demands and shifting priorities
Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, rapidly-growing workplace
Desire to grow, learn on the job and expand skill set
Workplace Arrangement Hybrid - 3x week in office in Calabasas, CA
