Senior Counsel / Legal Counsel – Mortgage & Lending

Overview A leading U.S. mortgage lender is seeking a commercially focused attorney to join its in-house legal team. This role supports core lending and servicing operations and offers a compelling opportunity to move in-house while maintaining high-quality legal work alongside a sustainable work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities
Advise on residential mortgage origination, servicing, and related legal matters
Provide guidance on federal and state consumer finance and mortgage regulations
Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements
Partner with internal stakeholders across compliance, risk, and operations
Support regulatory inquiries, audits, and internal investigations
Track and interpret legal and regulatory developments impacting the business
Candidate Profile
4–8 years’ legal experience (law firm and/or in-house)
Experience in mortgage, consumer finance, banking, or financial services preferred
Strong understanding of U.S. lending and regulatory frameworks
Pragmatic, business-oriented mindset
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Compensation
Base salary targeted around
$200,000 , with flexibility up to
~$220,000
depending on experience
