VP of Accounting & Tax — Hybrid Renewable Energy Leader

Piper Maddox is partnered with a well-established solar IPP platform backed by KKR that has been operating in the renewable energy space for nearly two decades. The company has built a strong reputation in the market and currently manages a growing portfolio of 70–80 solar projects across the U.S. As their platform continues to scale, they are looking to bring on a VP of Accounting & Tax to lead the accounting and tax functions across the business. This individual will report directly to the CFO and play a key leadership role in supporting the financial stewardship of the company as its project pipeline expands. This is a senior leadership role, but the team is looking for someone who enjoys staying hands-on and involved in both strategy and day-to-day execution. Responsibilities Lead and manage the accounting and tax functions across the organization Oversee both strategic initiatives and day-to-day financial operations Partner closely with the CFO on financial oversight and reporting Manage tax structuring and compliance across multiple states Handle federal and state tax exposure, including SALT considerations Support the financial side of the company’s growing renewable energy project portfolio Lead and develop members of the accounting and tax team Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field CPA required Strong understanding of GAAP accounting Experience managing federal and state tax exposure (SALT) Experience managing teams while remaining operationally hands-on Experience within renewable energy, infrastructure, real estate, or project-based industries is highly preferred Familiarity with NetSuite or other ERP systems is a plus The company is known for having a stable leadership team and strong culture, with many leaders based in the DC area for nearly a decade.
