Responsibilities The Medical Science Liaison is a field-based, scientific, and clinical expert who strategically supports the medical and scientific objectives of the program. Key aspects of this role will include engaging in peer‑to‑peer scientific dialogue with healthcare professionals that translate into meaningful insights while serving as a therapeutic expert.
Additional Responsibilities
Establish, cultivate, and maintain scientific relationships with KOLs while developing a strong understanding of clinical practice as it relates to areas of interest to advance scientific and medical knowledge.
Plan and execute medical strategy and engagement for appropriate assigned customer.
Communicate clinical and scientific data to KOLs and healthcare professionals through presentations, educational programs, and scientific discussions.
Serve as the primary resource to provide support for addressing unsolicited medical questions and other scientific exchange matters.
Identify, gather, and document field-generated scientific insights to drive innovative Medical Affairs strategies while complying with industry and corporate policies and procedures.
Maintain scientific and clinical knowledge base through continuous learning and awareness of related scientific literature to enable meaningful scientific exchange.
Collaborate with field-based Medical colleagues, appropriate Commercial colleagues, and the broader organization to provide scientific expertise and share Medical insights in support of internal and external activities.
Requirements Along with your ability to remain at the forefront of your field, you must possess:
Advanced degree required (e.g., PharmD, PhD, MD, NP, PA, OD or equivalent in life sciences)
3+ years of prior Medical Science Liaison experience (in eye care highly preferred)
Deep scientific knowledge and genuine passion for ophthalmology
Prior experience with payer presentations is a plus
Ability to interpret and communicate complex clinical and scientific data
Strong presentation, communication, and collaboration skills
Willingness to travel up to 60–80% within assigned territory
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel by car and air
