ScaleTrains® is seeking a Graphic Designer to join our East Tennessee Team. In this role, you will collaborate with the marketing team and the product development team to create promotional materials for selling HO, N, and S Scale model trains to enthusiasts around the world. You will also work with Virtual Railfan to create promotional content for our railfan livestreaming services.

We’re located in the beautiful mountains of southeast Tennessee, just 30-minutes north of Chattanooga in Cleveland. Graphic Designer responsibilities:

Work with the marketing team to create newsletter graphics that draw the viewer into the product line and generate click-throughs.

Facilitate new graphics for models to be uploaded to the website.

Create packaging designs for all products and scales

Proficient in building multipage documents and booklets, like manuals and brochures, using Adobe InDesign

Collaborate with writing staff to create attention-grabbing print and digital ads for various magazines.

Create on-screen graphics for web and mobile applications for livestreaming and videos

Develop thumbnail graphics for various video categories

Create visual branding for promotional campaigns

Work with trade show leaders to develop environmental graphics for promoting ScaleTrains and Virtual Railfan at trade shows and events around the country.

Create large signage for internal and external presentations

Organize our library of product logos and visual marks and be able to easily identify the correct usage of each for advertising and packaging.

Understand print production, including the creation of print files for US and UK printing.

Working knowledge of print production for clothing and premium marketing items (swag)

Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop custom graphics for technical information, including product information, tables, and charts.

Illustrate storyboards for video concepting with the marketing team.

Process comments and edits to graphic elements and work with subject matter experts to finalize and resolve issues before reviews and final submittal.

Ensure adherence to quality assurance/quality control standards on print files and other marketing materials, maintaining consistency and attention to detail in your own work and the work of others.

Understand brand standards for company branding marks and lead others to the best solutions when they utilize them.

Assist with the adoption of new tools or technologies to enhance efficiency, creativity, and collaboration.

Participate regularly in focused teams such as marketing meetings and project meetings; providing, receiving, and applying feedback constructively.

Oversee and support finalization of documents for production, packaging, and shipping.

Handle challenging situations diplomatically with peers and internal clients, exercising discretion with confidential or sensitive issues.

Collaborate with the photographer/videographer to produce stunning imagery and tell great stories

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree + 3 years of relevant graphic design experience or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Highly proficient in designing and managing content using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) for high-impact layouts; skilled in creating PDFs with Adobe Acrobat; experienced in developing web-ready graphics

Working knowledge of Google Workspace

Strong understanding of graphic design/marketing best practices and procedures, work processes, and tools, and evidence of past proficiency on projects or teams.

Strong ability to accept criticism and work toward a common goal in a team environment

Availability for business travel

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree + 5 years preferably in graphic design, digital arts, communications, marketing, or a related field.

Knowledge of the transportation industry, specifically trains.

Knowledge of the hobby industry and how to appeal to enthusiasts

Proficiency in using Klayvio to produce newsletters

Experience of working in a team environment

Pay: From $48,000.00 per year
