PRODUCTION ART LEAD
Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin
POSITION SUMMARY The Production Art Lead is responsible for overseeing and contributing to Boelter’s production art and proofing operations for decorated products, ensuring that all artwork, proofs, and production files are accurate, clearly communicated, and aligned with the requirements of external decorating partners. This role serves as the internal expert on artwork preparation, proofing standards, and decoration feasibility, while maintaining consistent quality standards across Boelter’s decorating partner network. The Production Art Lead owns the production art function, including managing team members, improving workflows, and partnering cross‑functionally with internal teams and external vendors to support successful execution of custom branded products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Production Art Leadership
Manage and mentor Production Art team members, providing guidance on proof creation and artwork preparation
Coordinate day‑to‑day proofing workflow to ensure timely delivery of accurate proofs
Proofing and Artwork Preparation
Prepare and modify artwork for production, ensuring files meet vendor specifications and production requirements
Create and review production proofs for custom‑branded products, including guidance and oversight of production artists
Review artwork for feasibility and identify potential risks or issues prior to production and act as an internal resource for resolving artwork‑related challenges
Decorating Partner Coordination
Facilitate art‑related communication between Boelter teams and vendors to ensure alignment on artwork files, proofs, and production requirements
Support collaboration between internal teams and decorating vendors to maintain consistent proofing expectations and production standards
Maintain documentation and standards related to artwork preparation and proofing workflows, including templates
Cross Functional Collaboration
Partner with Creative Design to ensure smooth transition from creative concepts to production‑ready artwork
Support Sales and Customer Service teams with artwork feasibility and proofing guidance
Collaborate with external decorating partners to ensure alignment on artwork expectations and production requirements
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Strong understanding of artwork preparation for decorated promotional products
Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Graphic Design, Production Art, or related field
Minimum 5 years of experience in proofing, prepress, or artwork preparation
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and other production design tools; experience working with prepress and proofing systems such as Prinergy and Insite strongly preferred
Familiarity with the alcoholic or alternative beverage industry is a plus
PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT
Some travel may be required (vendor visits, internal meetings, or trade shows)
Hybrid work schedule aligned with company policies
Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing
