Salary: £6,200 (£31K FTE). Hours: One day per week (7 Hours). Contract: Permanent. Location: Remote working with occasional attendance at Centre meetings and events across Scotland.
The Scots Language Centre seeks a talented content creator to develop and curate engaging content that promotes the Scots language and culture across our digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Create original multimedia content (articles, videos, audio, graphics) for website and social media channels Interpret and repackage existing materials into accessible, engaging formats Develop short‑form content optimised for social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, BlueSky) Cover Scots Language events, activities and initiatives through written and visual storytelling Collaborate with staff to identify content opportunities from ongoing projects Maintain a consistent organisational voice whilst adapting tone for different platforms and audiences Monitor content performance and adapt strategy based on engagement metrics Essential Skills and Experience
Proven ability to create professional digital content across multiple formats Strong writing skills across both long‑form articles and social media content Proficiency in content creation tools (video editing, graphic design, audio production) Understanding of social media platforms and their distinct content requirements Ability to work independently and manage own schedule within part‑time structure Demonstrable interest in the Scots language and Scottish culture Desirable
Knowledge and experience of Scots language (reading/writing/speaking at any level) Experience in cultural heritage, education or language promotion sectors Familiarity with web content management systems Photography/videography skills How to Apply
