
Recreation Leader II – Special Events

Recreation & Parks is looking for a Recreation Leader II who brings great energy, enjoys working with people, and is flexible with evenings and weekends. In this role, you'll help keep events, park activities, and community spaces running smoothly while making sure everyone who visits has an awesome experience.
Position Overview:
The Recreation Leader II supports special events, park operations, and community programs. You'll assist with events and rentals at popular locations, help supervise Recreation Leaders, respond to park needs in real time, and support athletic programs and activities. This role also includes visiting major parks, helping manage park rentals, and delivering friendly, top-notch service to the community every day.
What You'll Do:
Support and work alongside recreation staff to deliver fun, high-energy special events, tournaments, and park programs. Serve as an on-site point of contact for special events and rentals and help ensure everything runs smoothly. Stay active in the parks by supervising daily operations, engaging with visitors, answering questions, and keeping our parks safe, clean, and welcoming. Patrol parks and event sites, enforce rental and permit guidelines, and respond to issues to keep everything on track.
Skills You'll Need
Strong communication and customer service skills, including handling questions and resolving concerns Ability to think quickly, solve problems, and make sound decisions on the spot Organized and able to multitask while working independently Positive teamwork and people-skills to work well with staff and our visitors Flexible and reliable, with the ability to work evenings/weekends and perform active, outdoor work
What You Bring/Your Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Two (2) years of customer service experience. One (1) year of experience in a recreational field. Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Preferred Qualifications:
One (1) year of Supervisor experience. Work experience in recreation programming, customer service, and special events preferred. CPR/First Aid certified preferred.
Special Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age or older. Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
