Job Summary

Maintains surveillance and enforces pool regulations to ensure and secure the safety of pool patrons. Administers First Aid and CPR as needed. An employee in this class is responsible for lifeguarding at municipal pool, which may include organizing and conducting recreational activities and assisting in site supervision. Key Responsibilities

Helps maintain order and enforce rules and regulations at recreational facilities. Assists in maintaining safety and health standards at facilities and during programs. Prepares activity and staff schedules. Selects materials and adopts suitable teaching materials for individual needs. Instructs participants in activities such as dancing, music, crafts, tennis, swimming, dramatics, gymnastics and boxing. Supervises part‑time personnel and volunteers when necessary. Maintains program compliance and regulatory licensing requirements. Organizes, facilitates, and/or delivers staff trainings in related subject matter areas. May work weekends, nights, and holidays. Performs related work as required. Qualifications

High School Diploma or a G.E.D. Must be 18 years of age. Possess one (1) year experience in organizing and instructing groups in a wide variety of recreation activities for different age groups and interests. Has experience supervising in aquatic environments. Candidates must pass a fingerprinting/background screening process prior to employment. Physical Standards

The position involves light physical demands, such as exerting up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, or up to 20 lbs of force frequently. The noise level is moderately loud. Tasks include standing, walking, stooping, talking, reaching above and below shoulders, and using hand and finger dexterity. Vocal communication must convey clear instructions. Visual acuity is needed for depth and color perception. Working in adverse weather conditions such as heat and humidity may be required. Equal Opportunity Employer
