Consultant, Alternative Funding Division

The Consultant, Alternative Funding Division (AFD), plays a key role in supporting the agency's alternatively funded employer medical plan business. This individual will partner closely with producer teams within their designated region to support self-funding initiatives, including prospecting, advisement, and assessment of groups evaluating a transition to self-funding. The Consultant will work collaboratively with the AFD Analyst to assist in pricing RFPs for stop-loss, pharmacy benefit management (PBM), Third Party Administrator (TPA), and carve-out arrangements. The Consultant serves as a subject matter resource on self-funding concepts and assists in advancing the agency's growth objectives through strategic advisement, education, and producer support. Essential duties and responsibilities include: Producer Support: Collaborate with regional producer teams to provide subject matter expertise on self-funding strategies, funding arrangements, and vendor selection. Prospect Engagement: Support prospecting efforts by assessing employer groups' suitability for self-funding and assisting in the development of customized recommendations. RFP Assistance: Partner with the AFD Analyst to develop and price RFPs for stop-loss, PBM, TPA, and carve-out arrangements, ensuring competitive and comprehensive proposals. Client Advisement: Provide consultative guidance to self-funded clients and prospects to optimize plan performance, manage risk, and control costs. Vendor Collaboration: Support the evaluation and coordination of key vendor relationships, including TPAs, PBMs, stop-loss carriers, and point solution partners. Internal Education: Assist in developing and delivering educational materials and training sessions for internal producers and staff on self-funding concepts and best practices. Market Intelligence: Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, emerging risk mitigation solutions, and regulatory updates impacting self-funded plans. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with underwriting, analytics, and client service teams to ensure cohesive and effective delivery of alternative funding solutions. Relationship Building: Foster and maintain productive relationships with clients, prospects, and vendor partners to support the agency's growth objectives. Qualifications include: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related fieldor equivalent experience. 5+ years of experience in the employee benefits industry, preferably with exposure to alternative-funding and self-insured medical plans. Strong understanding of self-funding principles, including stop-loss, PBMs, TPAs, and cost-containment strategies. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with sales and client service teams. Skills include: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust with internal and external stakeholders. Certifications (Preferred): CEBS, CBP, CLU, or RHU Active Life & Health insurance license Compensation and Benefits: Competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with experience. Pay Details: The base compensation range for this position is $93,925 - $127,075.
