Who we are looking for: ACV Auctions is looking for an enthusiastic Inspector who has a knack for cars and wants an opportunity to join a growing company. Inspectors are the face of our company, knowledgeable about cars, and provide clear explanations to clients. They are meticulous, energetic, and committed to delivering trust, transparency, credibility, and customer service.
Responsibilities
Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
Partner with a Territory Manager and a team of Inspectors to conduct inspections of vehicles at dealerships, auctions, and off‑lease sites, detecting damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems.
Prepare and submit vehicle condition reports, repair/replacement cost estimates, and related documentation.
Help sales team up‑sell or cross‑sell services and products.
Interface regularly with dealers to develop and ensure client satisfaction and build strong relationships.
Travel to and from dealerships and homes to inspect, write condition reports, and list vehicles for sale on the auction platform.
Take multiple, overall, and damage photos, match them to a vehicle, and upload them to the image server using a company‑issued smartphone.
List inspected wholesale vehicles on the ACV Auctions platform for bidding and purchasing.
Sign up independent dealerships as buyers to utilize the ACV Auctions digital platform.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
1 year(s) of experience in the automobile field (body, paint, and mechanical repair knowledge) with a customer service background.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Ability to work outside in the elements for extended periods of time.
Problem‑solving aptitude to meet challenges with resourcefulness and innovative approaches.
Proven success working independently with minimal supervision while collaborating in a team environment.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to understand customer needs and expectations.
Valid driver’s license and use of a validly registered and insured motor vehicle required.
Knowledge of system capabilities, and relevant software packages and web‑based applications.
Ability to perform manual labor such as standing for extended periods, lifting up to or more than 25 lbs, bending, and squatting.
Ability to drive a manual & automatic transmission.
Vision abilities required to properly identify small defects around and underneath vehicles.
