Position Overview
UNCLASSIFIED POSITION – Current vacancy in the E‑911 Emergency Services Department.
Salary : $49,925.00 annually.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
At least two (2) years of Emergency Dispatch experience, or one (1) year of experience as a Communications Officer I within Fulton County Government Emergency Services (current or former employee only).
Each active certification listed below will be credited.
Required Certifications (must be attained within one year of employment and maintained thereafter)
Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC)/National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Certification (1)
Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) Certification (1)
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification (1)
Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification (3)
National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses (1)
Certification on all dispatch consoles.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must demonstrate proficiency in the essential functions of the role and be able to learn, comprehend, and apply all county and departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to perform effectively.
Special Requirements
Successful completion of a background investigation, skills assessment, psychological evaluation, physical/drug screening, and polygraph.
Valid Georgia Driver's License at time of appointment.
Minimum age 18 years.
Citizen of the United States.
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
No convictions that could have led to imprisonment in a federal or state prison, nor a pattern of misdemeanors indicating disregard for the law. Traffic law violations with a pardon are exempt.
Purpose of Classification To perform duties related to answering and dispatching emergency 9‑1‑1 calls. Responsibilities include answering emergency and non‑emergency calls, providing life‑saving instructions, dispatching the appropriate response units, monitoring service provider activities, and coordinating multi‑unit and multi‑jurisdictional responses.
Essential Functions
Answer incoming emergency and non‑emergency voice and text 9‑1‑1, TDD calls from the public.
Determine nature of call, assign priority, and enter information into the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System.
Provide lifesaving and pre‑arrival instructions to callers in emergency medical situations.
Dispatch appropriate agency (police, fire, marshal, EMS) to scene via radio and CAD; coordinate multi‑unit responses.
Maintain awareness of available response units; dispatch calls to available units and provide ongoing information and instructions.
Use computer to retrieve and relay data from GCIC and NCIC, including driver’s license, weapon registration, vehicle tags, and other identification information.
Contact appropriate agencies to confirm warrants requested by law enforcement officers and relay information on located, recovered, or stolen articles.
Make calls to complainants, alarm companies, wreckers, EMS, and other agencies.
Retrieve and relay information from GCIC and NCIC as required.
Additional Functions Perform other related duties as required.
