Sales Tax Associate
Kent Worldwide is seeking a detail-oriented Sales Tax Associate to support enterprise-wide sales and use tax compliance within a centralized shared services tax function. This role plays a critical part in managing multi-state filings, reconciliations, exemption certificates, and audit support across multiple legal entities and sales channels. Working closely with cross-functional partners, the Sales Tax Associate helps ensure accurate tax determination, maintains audit-ready documentation, and supports evolving systems and compliance requirements. This is a salaried position, designed and intended to be performed on-site at our Headquarters location in Muscatine, Iowa. It offers a comprehensive benefit package, and reports to the Tax Director. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Sales and Use Tax Compliance Prepare and file sales and use tax returns for multiple legal entities and jurisdictions Reconcile sales and use tax accounts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis Perform monthly nexus reviews and support annual nexus studies Maintain tax registrations, business licenses, and annual report compliance Assist with sales and use tax audits, state correspondence, and document requests Draft clear, factual responses to notices and information requests Maintain organized, audit-ready workpapers Exemption Certificates & Research Manage exemption certificates using third-party certificate management software Provide research and guidance on indirect tax matters, including taxability and exemptions Support business users with exemption application and documentation questions Systems, Process & Cross-Functional Support Support configuration, testing, and maintenance of the indirect tax engine integrated with D365 Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate tax determination across systems Participate in tax engine updates, testing, and change-management activities Identify opportunities to improve tax processes, data accuracy, and system efficiency Provide ongoing user support, training, and issue resolution as needed Assist with special sales tax projects across business functions Education, Qualifications, & Experience Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred 2-3 years of experience in corporate tax or public accounting is required Travel Up to 10% travel possible to other company sites
