Assistant Vice Chancellor of Content Marketing Strategy The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus invites applications for the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Content Marketing Strategy. This senior strategic role leads the development, integration, and execution of a unified content marketing strategy across the Office of Communications team, collaborating with schools, departments, units, and partners. The position serves as a connector across communications disciplines to build an audience‑centered content strategy that advances university and chancellor priorities and strengthens brand trust. Job Summary Reporting to the Vice Chancellor of Marketing and Communications, the Assistant Vice Chancellor is responsible for leading the integrated content strategy, governance, cross‑disciplinary leadership, editorial excellence, audience‑driven marketing, measurement, innovation, and team development. The role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of three days per week on campus. Key Responsibilities Lead a comprehensive content marketing strategy that integrates communications and marketing disciplines to meet or exceed performance benchmarks. Establish clear content frameworks, workflows, and goals that promote collaboration with internal teams and external vendors. Align messaging, editorial priorities, and storytelling approaches for consistency, credibility, and clarity. Develop governance models to shape the future of content marketing and communications, emphasizing sustainable and ethical AI adoption. Serve as the strategic integrator across disciplines, fostering shared planning, coordinated execution, and mutual accountability. Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on content strategy, narrative development, and reputational/brand considerations. Oversee editorial vision, ensuring alignment with paid/advertising campaigns. Manage story ideas across channels, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, inclusiveness, and brand voice alignment. Guide media, newsroom, and multimedia teams to prioritize and amplify stories that resonate with key audiences. Ensure compliance with regulatory, privacy, and ethical standards, particularly in healthcare communications. Champion an audience‑first approach, leveraging research, insights, and analytics for content planning and channel strategy. Align organic, paid, and earned media efforts to maximize reach, engagement, and impact. Use content marketing to support priority initiatives such as clinical focus areas, recruitment, philanthropy, and brand management. Maintain an integrated content performance dashboard and define enterprise KPIs. Apply data and insights to refine the Office of Communications strategic plan, optimize workflows, and demonstrate impact to stakeholders. Stay current on trends in content marketing, digital media, and AI, identifying opportunities for responsible and effective innovation. Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of content strategists, editors, producers, and channel experts. Balance evolving objectives and priorities across discipline strategists while curating the most effective content portfolio. Support professional growth and shared standards across decentralized teams. Manage budgets, tools, and external partners to support integrated content efforts. Collaborate with campus communicators to strengthen content cohesion and elevate a consistent brand voice. Work Location Hybrid – three days per week on campus and remaining days remote as needed. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field (master’s preferred). 8–10+ years of progressive leadership experience in content marketing, integrated communications, or brand strategy. Demonstrated success integrating multiple communications disciplines within a complex, matrixed organization. Preferred Qualifications Experience in higher education, academic medical centers, healthcare systems, or similarly complex environments. Experience working with integrated disciplines in marketing and communications, including advertising and agency. Experience developing workflow models and leading change across decentralized teams. Experience using analytics to guide strategy. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong understanding of digital channels, paid and earned media, editorial operations, and AI in communications.
