Curriculum Writer – UNC Chapel Hill Join to apply for the Curriculum Writer role at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill . This is a part‑time temporary position (10 hours per week) with a 6‑11 month appointment starting January 19, 2026. Hours are Monday‑Friday, 8:30 AM‑5:00 PM. Salary: $35.00–$45.00 per hour. Position Summary The position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The primary responsibilities include developing curriculum, course and training materials, marketing communication materials, and providing training and technical assistance to middle and high school educators for the mindfulness‑based K‑12 social‑emotional learning program "Be CALM." Responsibilities Develop and adapt curriculum content and materials under the guidance of the program director, integrating adolescent development, mindfulness, social‑emotional learning, adult learning methods, and the school delivery context. Develop flyers, recruitment materials, dissemination materials, website and other promotional materials, drafting text and graphic design and layout. Ensure consistent graphic design (logos, colors, fonts, etc.) style across communications and educational materials. Support the Be CALM Training Team with occasional training and technical assistance for secondary educators. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Master’s degree in education, special education, instructional design, educational technology, educational media, or a related discipline with coursework in curriculum development or learning theory; or a Bachelor’s degree in the assigned discipline and two years of experience in teaching, educational testing, or instructional design and curriculum development; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be from accredited institutions. Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Experience with curriculum development in K‑12, particularly related to Social Emotional Learning and/or mindfulness. Experience consulting with K‑12 educators around implementation of social‑emotional programs to promote student mental health. Demonstrated expertise in designing and delivering professional development programs with educators. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Social Emotional Learning curriculum‑writing experience (K‑12). Experience delivering social‑emotional programs in schools. Experience implementing innovations within education and mental health systems. Experience working in a research setting.
